While LSU looked good in a blowout 72-10 win over Grambling on Saturday, that wasn’t the best game to gauge if this team has improved since it took a loss to Florida State to open the season.
This weekend’s SEC opener — which comes on the road against Mississippi State in a game that will kick off at 11 a.m. local time — will be a much better test for coach Brian Kelly’s squad.
In the meantime, CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd has released his updated college football power rankings following Week 2, and the victorious Tigers saw a one-spot bump this week up to the No. 14 slot.
Here’s what Dodd said.
A get-well game over Grambling (72-10). Jayden Daniels threw five touchdown passes. It’s about to get real in the next three weeks with trips to Mississippi State and Ole Miss sandwiched around a home game with Arkansas.
As Dodd points out, we’ll have a much better idea where this team stands in the SEC pecking order as the Tigers begin conference play with a pair of potentially tricky games.
