The Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line isn’t messing around against the Detroit Lions. Charged with protecting the NFL’s reigning MVP, the unit made a point to bully Lions star Aidan Hutchinson on their first drive on Thursday night.

Right guard Trey Smith can be seen giving Hutchinson a nasty shot while first-year Chief Jawaan Taylor locked him up on the edge.
Kansas City wasn’t able to come away with points on its first offensive drive, but the grit that the line showed up front was certainly a good sign for the Chiefs early in this game. Mahomes will need extra time to operate in the pocket without Travis Kelce to provide him a consistent outlet in the passing game, so plays like this bode well for the offense’s ability to adequately protect him moving forward.
