LSU began the year as a consensus top-five team, but those expectations are being reevaluated after a disappointing 45-24 loss to Florida State in Orlando to kick off the 2023 season.
The Tigers fell outside the top 10 in both polls this week, and CBS Sports’ rankings of all 133 FBS teams are no different. Coach Brian Kelly’s team entered the season at No. 4 in the CBS rankings but has now dropped 10 spots down to No. 14, which is where it ranks in both the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25.
Things could certainly have been worse for the Tigers, who still remain a top-15 team across the board despite a frustrating Week 1 loss. But the margin for error has now decreased significantly as this team faces a tuneup against Grambling before SEC play begins.
