Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett capped off his college football career with back-to-back national championships. Bennett’s NFL career will be put on hold in Week 1.
The Los Angeles Rams have ruled Bennett out due to a right shoulder injury. Bennett had an up-and-down preseason for the Rams, but made Los Angeles’ final roster.
Brett Rypien, who is a member of the Rams’ practice squad, will serve as Los Angeles’ back up quarterback behind Matthew Stafford in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Bennett was the 128th pick of the 2023 NFL draft. He is expected to be Los Angeles’ backup quarterback when healthy.
Stetson Bennett (right shoulder) and Hunter Long (hamstring) also out Sunday.
Rams will call up Brett Rypien at backup QB.
Long's issue separate from thigh/groin injury that caused him to miss camp.
