Texas RB CJ Baxter returns to practice Monday after suffering injury vs Rice

Great news for Texas as they prepare to face Alabama this weekend.

Fortunately for Texas, freshman running back Cedric Baxter Jr.’s injury is not serious.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian stated on Monday that Baxter was able to practice. He awkwardly fell onto the ball and suffered a minor rib injury in Texas’ 37-10 win over Rice in Week 1.

The Longhorns chose to list Baxter and Jonathon Brooks as co-starters in the season opener, although Baxter received the first carry of the game. It marked the first time that a true freshman took the team’s first snap at running back since Ricky Williams in 1995.
