Rice’s WR duo will be a good test for Texas secondary

Rice has a pair of receivers that will be a nice test for Texas before ‘Bama.

Despite the fact that Texas is favored by 35 points against Rice doesn’t mean that the Owls won’t test them.

Unlike in previous meetings, Rice has a quarterback in JT Daniels that has competed at the highest level and has actually gone up against Texas twice. While he hasn’t beaten the Longhorns in either meeting, one at USC and one at West Virginia, his numbers against Texas are fairly decent. In his previous two meetings against Texas, Daniels completed 59-of-96 passes (61%) for 575 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

He is now at what will be the final stop of his personal college tour. While Rice isn’t known for being a powerhouse considering they haven’t finished above .500 since 2014, they do have some playmakers. There are two pass catchers that stand out as potentially tough covers for the Texas secondary.

I expect them to make some plays throughout the game, but the Longhorns secondary which is very veteran heavy should be able to manage just fine considering they face one of the best receiver rooms in the country on a daily basis.

Here are what Rice’s two receivers bring to the table.
