One of Florida football’s priority 2025 QB targets sets fall visit date

This year’s Florida-Tennessee game will have a healthy helping of top prospects in attendance for the Gators.

Florida football will host four-star quarterback recruit [autotag]Ryan Montgomery[/autotag] in Week 3 for the team’s Southeastern Conference opener against the Tennessee Volunteers inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Swamp247’s Donovan Keiser reports.

The visit is one of just two planned for the blue-chip passer out of Findlay (Ohio) in the 2025 recruiting class, both of which currently sit among his preferred collegiate destinations.

The Gators were among the programs listed for the 6-foot-4-inch, 215-pound signal-caller — along with the Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks and Penn State Nittany Lions — two weeks ago when he released his top-five preferred schools. The September visit represents the next step in solidifying the relationship between Billy Napier’s staff and the coveted recruit.

Quarterback analyst Ryan O’Hara has been keeping the lines of communication open with the blue-chip student-athlete in the interim, playing the role of communicator between the prized prospect and the program.

“The biggest thing to date is his, mine, and even our HC’s relationship with O’Hara,” Montgomery said. “One of the top recruiters of ours, no doubt. That said, we were very surprised with how cool everything was in our visit. Top-notch facilities, awesome campus, and seeing the Swamp. After that, it was a priority to get back for a game, hence the early-season visit.

“I am excited for us to get to know Nape more this fall, as I hear good things and he seems like a great guy from afar. I think the fit for Ry is there in scheme and school. I’m excited to see them take a step forward this fall.”

As for Napier, his role in coaching the quarterbacks corps is part of the allure the Orange and Blue offers.

“It’s pretty big for a head coach, who is the face of the program, to be heavily involved in your position. It’s really cool to see that and be a part of that I bet. That’s pretty important, just from the preparation that goes into it. From what I saw, he was heavily involved with the guys at quarterback.

“He is going to be right there by your side. He knows the game from a quarterback standpoint just as much as anybody. It’s a pretty good asset to have in the back of your mind.”

Montgomery is ranked No. 215 overall and No. 15 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at the Nos. 240 and 18, respectively.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Ohio State (22.8%) with Michigan (20.0%), the Kentucky Wildcats (7.7%) and Penn State (6.4%) trailing in the race for his commitment.
