NFL Pipeline: Cooper DeJean rated top-5 2024 NFL draft cornerback by Pro Football Focus

When, not if, Cooper DeJean is drafted into the NFL in 2024, he will be selected early. Pro Football Focus has him as a top-five cornerback.

To preface, and not sound entirely exaggerated, Cooper DeJean might be one of, possibly even the best defensive back to rock the Iowa Hawkeyes uniform when it is all said and done. It may sound a bit outlandish to some, but those who have seen DeJean suit up and play for the Hawkeyes can understand why his talent has garnered much hype heading into the 2023 college football season.

Coming off of a 2022 season where he was red hot and burst onto the scene with five interceptions, leading one of America’s most stout defenses, Cooper DeJean has skyrocketed up draft boards and landed on watch list after watch list. Most recently, Pro Football Focus stamped DeJean as a top-five cornerback going into the 2024 NFL draft. DeJean is ranked as the No. 3 cornerback in Pro Football Focus’ draft rankings.

DeJean is slotted right behind Big Ten comrade Kalen King of the Penn State Nittany Lions. There is a chance that King and DeJean could be the best two cornerbacks in America this year and represent the Big Ten in next year’s draft as the first two cornerbacks drafted.

Holding serve and coming in at No. 1 is Kool-Aid McKinstry, a cornerback belonging to the Alabama Crimson Tide. A program known for producing NFL-caliber defensive players each year, DeJean finds himself in great company ahead of this season with a chance to expand on his work.
