Former Rutgers football commit Juwan Mitchell is in the transfer portal

Juwan Mitchell is back in the transfer portal.

Juwan Mitchell, a former verbal to the Rutgers football, is no longer a part of the Arizona State football team.

Formerly committed to Rutgers as part of the 2019 recruiting class, the New Jersey linebacker ended up de-committing and joining Texas. He was a three-star recruit and the No. 44 player in New Jersey per the 247Sports Composite.

Mitchell was solid at Texas, accruing 101 total tackles in his two seasons with the program. Then he transferred to Tennessee (48 total tackles and an interception last year), before entering the transfer portal and joining Arizona State this offseason.

According to a report from 247Sports, Mitchell was released from the program over the weekend. On Tuesday, Dillingham was asked about the status of Mitchell.

“Juwan Mitchell is no longer with the team,” Dillingham said.

Dillingham was then asked about the moves to let go of certain players and how that fits into the culture he is trying to establish.

“Culture wins, it is very, very simple. Culture wins,” Dillingham said.

“You’re going to either practice how we practice, love how we live. Be a good person. Compete. Say ‘yes sir,’ say ‘no sir.’ Open doors for people. Be genuinely a good person and do things right or you’re not.”
