The Boston Celtics signed star forward Jaylen Brown to a massive five-year, $303.7 million supermax contract extension, making him the highest-paid player in the NBA in terms of contract value.
Despite the staggering amount of the cap the Georgia native will command when the deal kicks in after next season, it is a necessary move for a team with designs on maintaining its contender status and the sort of talented players that status requires a franchise to carry.
But what if Brown decides he wants out of the Celtics organization before his deal is up? Conversely, what if Boston believes the former Cal player is not living up to the size of that deal?
These two concerns were brought up on a recent episode of the Athletic’s “NBA Show” podcast, with hosts Andrew Schlecht and Ryen Russillo taking a deep dive into such hypotheticals for the Celtics.
Check out the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.
