Offered last week by Rutgers basketball, California guard Brandon McCoy Jr. is starting to develop a connection and understanding with the Big Ten program. A class of 2026 recruit, McCoy is poised to continue pulling in offers as his recruitment shows no signs of slowing down.
A guard at St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA), McCoy has a recruitment that is turning national. Within the past few weeks, McCoy had been offered by Cal and Washington State. They join a recruitment that includes programs such as Arizona State, Louisville and Oregon among others.
McCoy was offered by Rutgers on July 28, pulling in an offer from assistant coach Marlon Williamson.
This past season as a freshman, McCoy averaged 8.6 points and 4.5 assists per game. There is substantial buzz about McCoy as ESPN ranks him as a five-star recruit and the No. 15 player in the nation in the 2026 class.
Moving coasts could be a part of his recruitment, with McCoy saying that “An East Coast school is definitely a possibility.”
