The way the Buffalo Bills backfield shakes out was a storyline to watch heading into training camp.
Yes, the team used a second-round pick on James Cook in 2022. But Damien Harris was an interesting signing as well. Harris only inked a one-year deal, however, he has a nice chunk of NFL experience.
Early on at Bills training camp, it sounds like Cook is going to be the No. 1 running back. Buffalo offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey noted Cook as a versatilite “every-down back” for the offense.
“I think we’re really excited about him and what he can do,” Dorsey said.
At only 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, Cook doesn’t really profile as that type of running back. That’s not going to stop the Bills from giving him a chance to be that and Cook said he’s more ready than ever for the opportunity.
“I feel more established this year and more confident,” Cook said via video conference.
