LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Jared Gordon[/autotag] is frustrated by how things have turned out for him lately, but he’s ready to compete again.
Gordon (19-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC) was on the wrong end of a decision loss to Paddy Pimblett last December at UFC 282 – a fight that he and many others believed should’ve gone the other way. He was then booked to face Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night 222 this past April, but the fight was ruled a no contest due to an accidental clash of heads.
Then just one month after his no contest against Green, Gordon was set to replace Ludovit Klein against Jim Miller at UFC on ESPN 45. But during media day, Gordon revealed that he suffered what he described as “a mild concussion” against Green, resulting in him getting pulled from the fight. The 34-year-old said he’s had some “dark days” dealing with the unfortunate circumstances.
“It’s been a really weird time for me, and it’s all things that are out of my control,” Gordon told MMA Junkie Radio at UFC X during International Fight Week. “I thought I clearly won the Paddy fight, I was beating Bobby Green, then I got head-butted so no contest.
“Then I was supposed to fight Jim Miller, and I said some things in an interview that led me to get pulled off the card. I’m really bitter over it all. Unfortunately, I can’t shake it, to be honest, and I think getting back in the win column is the only way I’ll feel better. I don’t know what’s going on. I’m doing everything right, and I’m winning, but I’m still losing somehow.”
Gordon confirmed that he’s been cleared to compete, but is yet to have a fight booked.
“I’ve been cleared by the neurologist,” Gordon said. “The UFC knows. So, I’m good to go, and I’m training. I’m in great shape, I just don’t know what’s going to come next and how long it’s going to be. I just started sparring again since the Bobby Green fight. Last week is my first week back to sparring, but my head feels good, my body feels great. I felt good in sparring, and I’m just waiting to hear what’s next.”
