Age? Injury? Neither held Von Miller back.
The Buffalo Bills’ top edge defender is still one of the 10 best at his job in the NFL, despite both of those circumstances, according to Pro Football Focus.
The football analytics outlet ranked the top-32 edge defenders in the league heading into the 2023 offseason. Miller rounded out the top 10.
Here is PFF’s breakdown on Miller:
Miller’s age has been showing a bit since leaving Denver, but his pass rush win percentage remains high. Before his ACL injury this past season, he totaled eight sacks in 11 games with a 16.7% win percentage.
Miller, now 34, will have some concerns about his health going forward after injuring his knee on Thanksgiving last season. Now would be a great time for the youth on Buffalo’s defensive line to take a step forward.
Regardless, Miller will still hopefully find a way to still be productive when he does return to the field. The veteran is hopeful to be back in the fold by opening day, but Miller has said he will return no later than Week 6.
Miller’s level of play upon his return to the Bills could prove to be pivotal.
