It’s unclear how many holes in the lineup Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn will have to fill this offseason. But he knows it’s going to be more than a few.
So, in the way teams do nowadays, the transfer portal will hold some keys.
Arkansas is going to host Tarleton State utility player Jack Wagner next week to help fill a void. Wagner slugged almost .700 with 15 home runs and 56 RBI last year.
It was his one season at Tarleton State after he transferred from Kansas. With the Jayhawks he played with Arkansas outfielder Tavian Josenberger. Josenberger left KU for the Razorbacks and just finished his first season in Fayetteville.
Josenberger and Wagner could play again together in 2024 for the Diamond Hogs. But Josenberger is also listed as a Top-150 prospect for the MLB Draft this summer, pointing back to the issue at the top.
Also expected to leave are outfielder Jace Bohrofen, infielder Caleb Cali and will lose to outfielder Jared Wegner, first baseman Brady Slavens and infielder Harold Coll.
