Boston Scott jokes about Giants free agency rumors

Philadelphia Eagles RB Boston Scott was asked if the New York Giants made him a free agent offer and he had a little fun with his answer.

The New York Giants entered the offseason looking to add to their stable of running backs and did so in the 2023 NFL draft, selecting Oklahoma’s Eric Gray in the fifth round.

But did general manager Joe Schoen make any free agent offers prior to that?

There had been some speculation that the Giants might attempt to pluck Boston Scott off the free agent market and why not? He’s been consistently dominant against them throughout the years, scoring 10 of his 17 career touchdowns in Giants-Eagles contests.

Scott has rightfully been deemed a “Giant Killer,” so it would have made sense for the Giants to steal him from their division rivals. But that’s not how things shook out and Scott ultimately returned to Philly.

Speaking to reporters at the team’s OTAs this week, Scott was asked about the Giants and whether or not they offered him a contract this offseason.

“I mean, I can’t. I can’t talk about that,” Scott said with a laugh. “That’s confidential.”

The Giants didn’t visit with Scott during free agency and there were no leaked details about a potential offer. It’s probably safe to assume one wasn’t made but that’s not going to stop Scott from having a little fun with it.

Scott and the Eagles defeated the Giants three times in 2022 and the two are again primed for key showdowns in 2023. The Giants have to hope that some of the Scott magic has worn off at this point.
