Penn State is coming off a major recruiting weekend that resulted in three commitments in one day, and there could be more good news on the horizon for the Class of 2024 recruiting efforts. A fresh crystal ball prediction cast on 247Sports predicts Penn State to be the favorite to land the commitment of four-star edge rusher Mylachi Williams, one of the top players in the state.
Williams appears to be down to two schools as his top choices with Penn State and Notre Dame each getting a scheduled visit in the next two weekends. Williams is scheduled to visit Penn State this weekend and then make a trip to Notre Dame’s campus the next weekend.
Ahead of those official visits came a crystal ball prediction from Tyler Calvaruso of Lions247. This prediction is notable because the Penn State recruiting insider has accurately predicted 16 of his 17 crystal ball predictions in this recruiting cycle alone, including a perfect 12-for-12 on his picks favoring Penn State. If his streak continues, then Penn State could be adding another four-star edge rusher to the program soon enough.
Williams, who plays high school football for Monsignor Bonner in Drexel Hill, is a 6′-3″ 215-lb edge rusher. He is rated as a four-star recruit by the 247Sports composite ranking and is ranked as the seventh-best player overall in Pennsylvania. That is enough to make him a major recruiting target for James Franklin and his staff. New defensive line coach Deion Barnes is heading up the recruiting efforts for Penn State in pursuit of Williams.
Williams received an offer from Penn State earlier this year after attending a junior day event in January. He also made an unofficial visit to Penn State in March after accumulating a number of offers from Power 5 programs across the country including Michigan, USC, Colorado, Nebraska, and more. Notre Dame extended an offer in February.
We’ll keep a close eye on the recruiting journey of Williams and see if he decides to stay closer to home with the Nittany Lions or pack his bags for South Bend when all is said and done.
