Ike Irish announces return for sophomore season

Ike Irish wasted no time announcing his plans for next season.

[autotag]Ike Irish[/autotag] had a freshman season for the ages and he is ready to do it all again next season. He announced that he would be returning to Auburn for his sophomore season on Twitter Monday night.

“Auburn family this is just the beginning, we will be back,” he wrote. “Thank you all for the support this year. Keep packing Plainsmen next year. Cannot wait to run it back with the boys! War Damn Eagle forever!”

Irish hit .361 with 24 2B, six HR and 50 RBI in his first season on the Plains and was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team after being named the Freshman of the Week three times.

He and Bryson Ware were the only Tigers to start all 58 games this season and Irish led the Tigers in batting average, hits (86) and doubles.

The Hudsonville, Michigan native had 27 multi-hit games and finished the season with a .429 on-base percentage.
