TCU beat third-seeded Arizona on Friday night to set up the game. Arkansas, the top seed in the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA Tournament, had knocked off fourth-seeded Santa Clara earlier in the day.
Saturday’s meeting won’t be the first this year between the two schools. The Horned Frogs demolished Arkansas, 18-6, back in February in the College Baseball Showdown in Arlington. But that was only the second game of the season. Since then, the Diamond Hogs spent most of the year inside the Top 5 in the country while TCU largely hovered down around 20th.
The winner isn’t guaranteed a spot in the next round. They’d still have to win a championship Sunday. But it’s easier to do so from the top-half of the bracket instead of the elimination side.
First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m.
