Official visit with Florida scheduled for this 4-star defensive lineman

While the start of June is already brimming over with official visits, the Gators made room in the middle of the month for this blue-chip lineman.

The front end of June is fully loaded with planned official visits but there is still plenty of room toward the tail end of the month to make room for more prep prospects. And that is exactly what Florida football has done recently, including a blue-chip prep prospect from the Tar Heel State.

Four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Amaris Williams[/autotag] out of Clinton (North Carolina) recently told Swamp247’s Blake Alderman that he has an official visit set with the Gators for the weekend of June 16. Outside linebacker coach Mike Peterson and area recruiter Jay Bateman joined forces to convince the 6-foot-3-inch, 260-pound lineman that a trip to the Swamp would be well-worth his time.

“They want me to get down there soon like I said for a visit so I can meet all the coaches and players,” Williams offered. “Just get me a chance to visit their campus and all that. We have been getting to know each other. He asks about my life and talks with me like that. We have different backgrounds growing up, but he tells me about himself.”

The rising high school senior currently has an OV set with the North Carolina State Wolfpack for the weekend of June 9, with no other plans confirmed as of yet other than his UF visit. The Tennessee Volunteers, Auburn Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels and Oklahoma Sooners are among the other schools he is considering as well.

Williams is ranked No. 307 overall and No. 32 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 293 and 28, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has NC State in the lead for his signature at 44.5%, followed by Florida (19.8%), North Carolina (11.5%) and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (9.6%).
