Jason Patterson went into this spring season with the goal of cracking 11 seconds in the 100 meters. The running back from Sneads High School (Sneads, FL) is one of the fastest football players in a state known for speed.
Over the weekend, Patterson ran a 10.97 time in the 100 meters. He has qualified for the state championships based off his performances this spring.
A four-star recruit according to ESPN.com, Patterson had 2,721 rushing yards last season with 35 touchdowns. Staggering numbers for a player who is elusive and hard to bring down.
Ahead of a busy June where he will take four official visits, Patterson said that Rutgers has told him that he is the top running back on their board.
“The staff, from top to bottom – I can tell that I am wanted there and I want to repay back the love,” Patterson told Rutgers Wire on Sunday.

He said that Rutgers, Cincinnati and Boston College are currently showing him the most love. That ties in well with his official visits:
- Rutgers (June 1-3)
- Boston College (June 9-11)
- Cincinnati (June 16-18)
- Stanford (June 23-25)

A program to keep an eye on is Illinois, who has upped their conversation with the Florida running back in recent weeks. The Illini are set to visit Patterson this week and could be extending an offer.
