College football analyst Josh Pate discusses what happens if Texas beats Alabama

If Texas beats Alabama, it will be pandemonium.

How will the college football world react if Texas pulls off an upset win over Alabama? It will be pandemonium.

College football analyst Josh Pate broke down what it would look like if the Longhorns leave Tuscaloosa with a victory.

“If Texas beats ‘Bama in Week 2… you think you’ve seen hype. You have never seen hype. If they go in there and Quinn Ewers outduels (Alabama’s quarterback), if they carve up Alabama’s secondary, if they take ‘Bama down in their own building and then they enter Big 12 conference play undefeated… oh, the hype.”

To be sure, the Longhorns have as good an opportunity to knock off the Crimson Tide as they would have in any season since their 2009 national title loss to Alabama. Since 2010, the Tide have never been more vulnerable and the ‘Horns have never been more loaded. That should almost certainly douse any grandiose big picture takeaway from a win there in reality for Texas.

Nevertheless, the hype will be sky high should the Longhorns deliver with a win over college football’s best program on the road. And while I feel strongly that Texas is not going to secure a playoff berth or national championship appearance, a win over the Crimson Tide might not only be possible but reasonable.
