Jordan Addison makes history on several levels with Vikings at NFL draft

If you love #USC and #NFLDraft history, Jordan Addison made a lot on Thursday night. #SKOL

Jordan Addison made history for USC football at the 2023 NFL draft. When he was picked by the Minnesota Vikings at No. 23, several milestones were forged.

Addison became USC’s first-round pick in the 2023 draft, meaning that the Trojans produced a first-rounder for the fourth consecutive draft. That had not happened since 2003 through 2006, the heart of the Pete Carroll glory years.

With Drake London being picked in the first round of the 2022 draft, Addison’s selection meant that USC put receivers in the first round of consecutive drafts for the first time since 1993 and 1994. Curtis Conway and Johnnie Morton were the Trojans’ history-making receivers back then.

One other piece of history created by Addison is this: For the first time in the Super Bowl era (since 1967), receivers were taken with four consecutive picks in the first round of the draft.

Locally and nationally, the historical reach of Addison’s draft selection is considerable. It speaks to the durability and depth of the brand USC football has established in the NFL.
