Earlier in the day, a lot of Oregon fans were feeling confident that the streak of Ducks being selected with a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft would continue. As the night went on, that started to become less of a popular opinion.
After sliding down the draft board further than many expected, Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez was selected by the New England Patriots with the No. 17 overall pick. The slide may end up working out for Gonzalez, who now lands with a New England Patriots squad that has historically been great at coaching the CB position under head coach Bill Belichick.
National media members were huge fans of the selection from New England, and were perplexed at why Gonzalez dropped. Oregon fans, and NFL fans in general, were also very vocal about everything that went on, from the drop to the eventual pick. Here are some of the best reactions from the night.
