Dellquan Warren is thrilled to add another elite player to the Rutgers basketball 2024 recruiting class. A four-star guard from Pennsylvania, Warren was the first commit in a class that is incredibly strong.
The decision made last Friday by four-star center Lathan Sommerville is significant for Rutgers in that it solidifies the best recruiting class in program history. And, depending on how things pan out, it might be the top recruiting class in the nation.
Sommerville is 6-foot-10 center who is ranked the No. 92 player in the nation perRivals. He became the third top-100 player to commit to Rutgers in the 2024 recruiting class.
This past March, Sommerville had a top seven a top seven that included Villanova, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Bradley, Xavier, Missouri and Virginia Tech. He whittled that down last week to a final three of Bradley, Missouri and Rutgers with the Big Ten team winning out in the end.
“I mean, I was very excited,” Warren told Rutgers Wire. “Lathan is a great player and will make an immediate impact for us.”
Warren, the No. 75 player in the nation, was the first commitment in the Rutgers recruiting class when he gave a verbal in late December. A tremendous pick-up, Warren is a player who can score in multiple ways, can take the ball up the court and is a strong defender.
He is a complete guard and was a massive addition to Rutgers in his own right.

Warren was joined a month later by Airious Bailey, a five-star forward from Georgia.
Bailey is a top 10 player in the nation. The Rutgers recruiting class is already strong, ranked fourth in the nation.
But Warren hopes that another five-star player could be set to join the class, Dylan Harper.
A standout for Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), Harper is one of the top uncommitted players in the nation. His national recruitment seems to be trending towards Duke and Rutgers as his finalist.

“I would love to share the backcourt with Dylan,” Warren said.
Were Harper to pick Rutgers, there is a good chance that Rutgers would have the top recruiting class in the nation.
