If you missed it over the weekend, the USC baseball program did something very special. The Trojans won a home-field series against UCLA for the first time since 2005. That’s insane.
The point is not to emphasize how incredible it is that USC won a series from UCLA. That was surely impressive, but not extraordinary.
The crazy part is that it took 18 whole years for the Trojans to do it.
“The USC Trojans waited 18 long years for this moment, the moment when they could say they beat UCLA in a home-field baseball series. Has it been that long? Yes it has. It underscores how dark and difficult life has been for the USC baseball program. Now the clouds are beginning to part and the sunshine is flowing in,” we wrote on Monday.
Now the Pac-12 baseball standings look different. USC is in the top tier of the conference after huge wins on Saturday and Sunday.
