R.J. Moten, who played some significant snaps as a starter for Michigan last season, has entered the transfer portal.
A former four-star recruit, Moten was a member of the 2020 recruiting class and a four-star recruit according to 247Sports. He played his high school football for Delran (Delran, N.J.) and was ranked as the fifth-best recruit in New Jersey as well as the No. 180 recruit in the nation.
He enters the transfer portal coming off last season as a sophomore,where he had 31 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pass defended as a safety for Michigan.
The Wolverines won the Big Ten Championship Game and went on to compete in the College Football Playoff.
While Rutgers does not have a pressing need at safety, a talent like Moten is rare. Rutgers offered Moten out of high school at Delran.

Currently on the Rutgers roster is Aaron Lewis, who transferred to Rutgers in 2020 from Michigan. Lewis has thrived in the Scarlet Knights offense, finishing last season with 54 total tackles last year and 1.5 sacks.
Delran has a nice Rutgers connection in the current recruiting class. Three-star offensive lineman Kenny Jones committed to Rutgers football in November, becoming the first verbal in this recruiting class.
