Klay Thompson praises Andrew Wiggins’ performance in Game 1 vs. Kings

Klay Thompson had high praise for Andrew Wiggins’ performance in his long-awaited return to the court on Saturday against the Kings in Game 1.

Along with the start of the playoffs, Saturday’s Game 1 contest between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings marked the highly-anticipated return of Andrew Wiggins.

Prior to Saturday, Wiggins has been out since Feb. 13 due to a personal matter. With under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, Wiggins entered the game off the bench and quickly made an impact with a block of Davion Mitchell at the rim. Wiggins went on to score 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field with three rebounds and an assist in 28 minutes off the bench.

Wiggins struggled with his jumper from beyond the arc, shooting just 1-of-8 from deep, including a miss that could’ve served as a potential game-winner with 10 seconds on the clock.

However, Wiggins looked in mid-season form on the defensive side of the floor, swiping a game-high four blocks. Added: After the game, Klay Thompson praised Wiggins’ performance in Game 1. Thompson said he was “proud” of his teammate for how he played after an extended layoff.
