It wasn’t perfect, but the Tigers took care of business in perhaps their most anticipated series of the season this past weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers.
LSU took the series with wins in the first two games, and though it dropped Game 3 after some poor pitching, coach Jay Johnson’s team still sits at 6-3 in SEC play with three series wins and remained the No. 1 team in every poll.
Next up is a road trip to take on a No. 6-ranked South Carolina team that only has one slip-up so far in SEC play. First, though, the Tigers welcome Nicholls to The Box for a midweek contest on Tuesday night.
“I would give us an ‘A’ for the first half of the season,” Johnson said in a release. “Ours is an easy team to get behind in terms of how we play, how much they care, how invested they are. I love coaching them, and we’ve got great leadership and a great team dynamic. I’m excited for the week ahead of us.”
The Colonels enter this one at 17-13 on the year having won their first two conference series against McNeese and Lamar. In their lone series against a power conference team, they took one of three against Nebraska.
Here’s everything you need to follow Tuesday night’s game, which is set to start at 6:30 p.m. CT.
