Are the Philadelphia 76ers a legitimate threat to the Boston Celtics in the playoffs?
The Celtics have had the Sixers’ number in the postseason for many years. They have been enough of a thorn in Philly’s side that the Sixers lured away Al Horford so as to not have to deal with his defense on Joel Embiid anymore. Instead, the Florida alumnus returned to Boston via trade.
However, in each game the clubs have played this season, the 76ers have seemed ever closer to figuring out the Celtics. When you mix in the absolute tear the team has been on to close the regular season while Boston limps across the finish line, the question starts to carry a bit more weight.
The hosts of the CLNS Media “Bob Ryan and Jeff Goodman” podcast debated whether Philadelphia ought to be seen as a real threat to end Boston’s postseason run this year, or if the Celtics can depend on their typical ability to send the Sixers home each season.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they think of this iteration of the Sixers.
