Oskar Palmquist entered the transfer portal on Friday as Rutgers basketball loses a valuable piece of their rotation.
Having played the past three years at Rutgers, the 6-foot-8 forward made some valuable contributions to the program, in particular this past season. He posted a career-high average for minutes played (9.1), points (2.3) and rebounds (1.1) per game.
Part of the 2020 recruiting class, Palmquist played in 48 games during his time at Rutgers. He made two starts this past season.
Palmquist was unlikely to see much of a larger role with the program. Mawot Mag grabbed the starting job at forward during the preseason and looked like a strong piece throughout this past year. And part of the 2023 recruiting class is Gavin Griffiths, a four-star forward who is likely to challenge for starting minutes this fall.

Earlier this week, center Cliff Omoruyi announced his intention to enter the NBA draft. Omoruyi, one of the top big men in college basketball, will not hire an agent as he maintains his college eligibility for a possible return to Rutgers for one more season.
