The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ search for a veteran quarterback could be reaching an end.
Dianna Russini of ESPN reported on Monday that the Bucs have shown interest in both the Browns’ Jacoby Brissett and the Rams’ Baker Mayfield. Previous reports mentioned the two quarterbacks along the likes of Blaine Gabbert and Drew Lock, but it’s possible that the team has narrowed down its options.
Both quarterbacks got starting action in 2022. Brissett was the Cleveland Browns’ QB1 while the team bided their time for Deshaun Watson’s return, while Baker Mayfield played for two teams — after a rough stint with the Carolina Panthers, Mayfield finished out the year in relief of Matt Stafford for the Los Angeles Rams. Either choice would offer Tampa Bay a veteran player to compete with quarterback Kyle Trask, the only Bucs quarterback on contract at the moment.
