Bills do not receive any compensatory picks for 2023 NFL draft

No comp picks for the #Bills & what they are exactly here:

The NFL announced the annual addition of compensatory draft picks for the upcoming draft. The 2023 edition did not include any for the Buffalo Bills.

It was previously projected that the Bills wouldn’t receive any comp picks this offseason. On Thursday, that became official.

The formula for receiving comp selections is not one that’s set in stone. However, it’s based on free agents a team lost the year prior vs. ones gained. Because of that, it was not a shock to see the Bills not receiving any comp selections.

In 2023, a total of 16 teams in the NFL received comp picks and 37 new selections between rounds three and seven at the 2023 draft were handed out.

While Buffalo was not amongst them, they were part of the formula.

Two players the Bills signed as free agents last season helped their former teams earn compensatory picks.

For the Washington Commanders, the signee is defensive tackle Tim Settle. In the case of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tight end OJ Howard, who did not make the Bills out of training camp, is the other.

The comp picks being handed out also means we now know when the Bills’ full slate of selections at the upcoming draft will be. Previously we only knew the first three, including their Round 1 slot at No. 27 overall.

Here’s the full list:

  • Round 1, Pick 27
  • Round 2, Pick 59
  • Round 3, Pick 91
  • Round 4, Pick 130
  • Round 5, Pick 137
  • Round 6, Pick 205
