The USC Trojans nearly saw their bubble hopes take a giant hit on Saturday night. In the final game of the Pac-12 regular season, Arizona State gave USC everything it could handle.
Fortunately, the Trojans survived with a 68-65 win at the Galen Center. Boogie Ellis did the heavy lifting again, and Drew Peterson played despite suffering an injury in the game against Arizona on Thursday.
However, there was one other bright spot: Tre White stepping up when USC needed it most. White finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds to go with a pair of assists, providing a massive spark for USC.
The only players to finish with double-digit points were Ellis and White, and the former Pac-12 Freshman of the Week ended the regular season on a positive note.
Kobe Johnson had just 4 points, Reese Dixon-Waters finished with 3 points, and Joshua Morgan had just 1 point as USC nearly lost to the Sun Devils. Nonetheless, White did what the Trojans were hoping for. He stepped up.
With USC’s offense being led by Boogie Ellis, Andy Enfield’s team enters the Pac-12 Tournament with the need to cultivate more production from more sources, but a strong showing from Tre White is encouraging with the NCAA Tournament on the horizon.
