The bid for a Big 12 regular season title is over for Texas after Wednesday night. The Longhorns fell to the TCU Horned Frogs, 75-73.
Texas dug itself another first half hole once again, trailing by 12 points at half. Unlike the last matchup against TCU, the team couldn’t overcome the slow start.
The loss continues the team’s road woes as the Longhorns fall to 4-6 in road games on the year. More importantly, the loss makes the season finale against Kansas all the more significant.
The Jayhawks are a virtual lock for a No. 1 seed presently. Wednesday secured a regular season title for Bill Self and company. In addition, Kansas has far-and-away the most Quad 1 wins in college basketball.
For Texas, Wednesday marks its first back-to-back losses of the season. With the NCAA Tournament around the corner, Rodney Terry and company need to get back to playing better basketball to make a run in March.
