The Boston Celtics made the trip to Madison Square Garden to face a surging New York Knicks, and they found out firsthand why New York has been moving up the standings in a 109-94 loss. Without Jaylen Brown — out for personal reasons — Jayson Tatum (14 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists) was ejected for the first time in his career.
Boston was held to 21.4% from 3 despite taing half of their 82 shots from deep as the team struggled to respond to the Knicks’ length and defensive pressure, and the bench had little to give apart from Malcolm Brogdon’s 22 points off of the bench.
Solid help from Marcus Smart (19 points) looked like it might turn the tide several times throughout the game, but the Knicks responded each time Boston made a run.
Let’s take a look at some of the best plays captured in images from the Celtics’ game No. 62 of their 2022-23 campaign.
