Celtics’ Jayson Tatum gushes about new teammate Mike Muscala after win over Hornets

“We can just see how important he can be for us,” said the Duke alum. “Big body, long arms, obviously he can stretch the floor — I’m glad we got him.”

Fans of the Boston Celtics were impressed by the debut of newest Celtics center Mike Muscala. The former Oklahoma City Thunder big man logged 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc as he helped propel his new team to a win over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.

It also caught the attention of his new teammates, including star forward Jayson Tatum. After the victory, the St. Louis native said (via CLNS Media) that he was joking with Muscala, and “he hit his first shot, and we were sitting on the bench, and I was like, ‘Man, that’s big-time!'”

“To come to a new team, never practiced with us, come in and knock down your first shot, just as a basketball player, I know how good that felt,” he added.

“We can just see how important he can be for us,” added the former Duke standout. “Big body, long arms, obviously he can stretch the floor — I’m glad we got him.”
