We’re talking to our friends at Ducks Wire about Friday’s women’s basketball game in Los Angeles between Oregon and the USC Trojans. Both teams are likely headed for the NCAA Tournament but still need a few wins to seal the deal.
If you haven’t been paying attention, Oregon women’s basketball — an elite program which would have been favored to win the 2020 NCAA Tournament had the pandemic not canceled it — has struggled over the past month under head coach Kelly Graves.
We talked to Ducks Wire analyst Donald Smalley about Oregon women’s basketball. We asked him a very simple question:
“Is it surprising?”
Here’s what Don said:
“Very much so. For a team to be so good at one fundamental (shooting) and then having that suddenly go away is a bit stunning to watch. The recent opponents (Stanford included) weren’t exactly locking it down on defense. Oregon is getting the shots they want.”
