There’s an entire industry of NFL draft analysts out there now, but the guy who started the mock business is still the one everyone pays attention to. ESPN’s Mel Kiper has released his first mock draft of the year and it paints a very interesting scenario for the Seahawks.
With the No. 5 overall pick, Kiper has Seattle selecting Kentucky quarterback Will Levis.
“Levis is going to be polarizing for the next few months. Turn on his tape, and you’re going to see some poor interceptions and questionable decisions. But you’re also going to see rockets that should have been caught and tight-window throws that no other passer in this class can make. There will be a general manager in the top 10 who sees Levis’ positives over the negatives. He also is ahead of the curve in learning a pro-style offense, because that’s what he played in for the Wildcats.”
Levis (6-foot-3, 222 pounds) is indeed a polarizing prospect – but if the real draft follows Kiper’s Seattle won’t have a slam dunk pick to make, here. With Jalen Carter, Will Anderson Jr., C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young off the board they might have to roll the dice on a hit-or-miss player like Levis – or consider trading down for more value.
The tape is shaky as Kiper mentioned, but let’s take a look for ourselves.
