Dubs give Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics reminder of the importance of sustained focus

‘In this league, with so many talented players, no lead is truly safe,’ shared Tatum after the win.

On a night when the Boston Celtics had trouble hitting the broad side of a barn and it felt like almost anything that could go wrong did, the ball club dug deep and found a way to win against the Golden State Warriors at home on Thursday evening.

Talking with the press after the victory about how there are “going to be games like this” where “you don’t shoot the ball well,” star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum seemed both happy Boston managed to eke out the win while also not letting things get out of context beyond the regular season tilt that it was.

“Under 40% (from the field), 73% from the free-throw line, 17 turnovers — we still found a way to win,” he related. “I think that shows the depth of our team.”

“In this league, with so many talented players, no lead is truly safe,” reflected the St. Louis native. “You never want to relax, take your foot off of the gas until the game is over with, especially against these guys.”

“One turnover, one mistake … seems like it always leads to a 3; you’ve just got to keep fighting to the end.”
