There was never a shred of doubt that Jordan Addison would declare for the 2023 NFL draft, but on Monday, the USC receiver made his announcement.
Addison is certain to be a top-15 NFL draft pick, likely to go in the top 10. He could be the first receiver taken in the draft, much as Drake London was the first receiver taken in the 2022 draft, at pick No. 8 to the Atlanta Falcons.
You can see how much an elite receiver brings to a team. Tyreek Hill instantly upgraded the Miami Dolphins this season and made Tua Tagovailoa a much better quarterback. Funny how that works. Other teams with significant weaknesses in the passing game would do well to look at Addison and consider bringing him aboard.
Addison was spectacular at USC this past season, giving quarterback Caleb Williams an elite No. 1 target and helping Williams win the Heisman Trophy. Addison played a great game against UCLA, leading the Trojans to a 48-45 win over the Bruins which clinched a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game and led to a New Year’s Six bowl berth for the Men of Troy in Year 1 under Lincoln Riley.
