The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for another postseason run which begins against the Miami Dolphins in the wild-card round.
The words “postseason” and “another” are very much attributed to Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott.
Rightfully so.
And ahead of that playoff meeting, the Bills have an anniversary to celebrate. On this date, Jan. 11, six years ago in 2017, McDermott was hired by the team.
“Time does fly by, it’s amazing to think about,” McDermott said via video conference on Wednesday.
McDermott has just concluded his sixth regular season as Buffalo’s head coach. Soon after he was hired, the team also signed Brandon Beane as general manager.
Over their span in the team’s front office, the Bills have had a winning record in all but one season.
Aside from that 6-10 season in 2018, the rookie year of Josh Allen when the team was forced to start multiple players at quarterback due to injury, Buffalo has cracked the playoffs.
Truly a remarkable turnaround for a franchise who once failed to make the postseason for nearly two decades.
Overall, McDermott has a 62-35 overall record as the head coach of the Bills and a 3-4 one in the playoffs.
