The Denver Broncos announced via Twitter that former Alabama cornerback Pat Surtain II was the recipient of the Demaryius Thomas MVP Award. This award is given annually to the player that best exhibits Thomas’ impact both on and off the field.
Thomas played wide receiver for the Broncos from 2010 to 2018. He was instrumental in the community as well as on the field. On Dec. 9, 2021, Thomas was discovered as being unconscious inside his Roswell, Georgia residence. He was later pronounced deceased at the age of 33.
His memory is commemorated by the organization through this award. It is merely an honor for any player to receive this particular award. This prestigious award honors Surtain II and the type of teammate he is. His impact shows in a multitude of ways within the Broncos’ organization.
