The Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball team got off to a strong start to its Southeastern Conference schedule on Wednesday night on the road against the Ole Miss Rebels, earning a 63-59 win.
The Vols were down by as many as 10 at one point in the first half but Rick Barnes’ squad rallied out of the halftime locker room to outlast the Rebs in hostile territory. Santiago Vescovi led the way for Tennessee with a game-high 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the floor including a 3-for-7 effort both from beyond the arc as well as the charity stripe.
Jaemyn Brakefield led Ole Miss with 18 points going 5-for-9 including a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range along with four rebounds and a block. Only four total players — two from each team — registered double-digit points on Wednesday night.
