CAMDEN, N.J.–Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is a workaholic. The young man just wants to hoop and play basketball every day in order to get better as a player and it’s why he’s considered one of the best young players in the league.
He has not been able to do much since he suffered a left foot fracture in a Nov. 18 win over the Milwaukee Bucks and one has to assume that it hurts him not to be able to get out there and play. However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been involved with the team.
The young man out of Kentucky has been involved in practices and shootarounds despite not being able to do much else other than just rehab.
“He’s here for every practice, every walkthrough, or shootaround, meeting,” said Georges Niang. “Obviously, he wasn’t going on the road trips, so he could be here in rehab, but I think the best thing about it is he gets his like work in two hours before practice so that he can sit and watch practice.”
Maxey is all about helping the team and being a guy who will put the work in to ensure that he is at his best. Even while being out with an injury, he is still that guy.
“I think that just speaks volumes to who he is and what he stands for that he doesn’t want to miss anything that involves the team so he’s gonna do his conditioning and work before practice so that he can be with us during practice so he doesn’t really miss a beat on it,” Niang added. “Which is gonna be huge, especially with him coming back in the midst of being out for like a month or so with his injury.”
The Sixers will take on the Toronto Raptors on Monday to continue their homestand.
