The 2022 UIL Texas state championships wrapped up over the weekend after some exciting games.
Texas was well represented with five commits participating in the action.
- 2023 CB Malik Muhammad (South Oak Cliff)
- 2023 LB Billy Walton (South Oak Cliff)
- 2023 WR Johntay Cook (DeSoto)
- 2023 RB Tre Wisner (DeSoto)
- 2024 DB Jaden Allen (Aledo)
Muhammad and Walton anchored a strong defensive performance to guide South Oak Cliff to its second straight state title. Muhammad took home defensive MVP after hauling in a crucial pick-six to ice the game.
Aledo continued its run of dominance with a 52-14 victory over College Station. Allen had four tackles and a pass breakup in the win.
DeSoto capped off the weekend with a 42-17 win over Austin Vandergrift. The dynamic duo of Johntay Cook and Tre Wisner was a force from start to finish.
