The Cowboys were dealt a blow this week with the news that massive defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins would be lost for the rest of the regular season.
The team is attempting to fill that hole with someone even more massive.
The Cowboys added Anthony Rush to the practice squad on Wednesday. The 6-foot-5-inch 350-pound nose tackle went undrafted out of UAB in 2019 and has bounced around with seven teams since then. He was most recently on his third stint with the Eagles, having been released Dec. 6.
Rush has seen time in 30 NFL games and started ten contests for the Falcons over the past 13 months. He’s recorded 40 tackles, four TFLs, two quarterback hits, two passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a half sack in his brief career.

A 26-year-old and a North Carolina native, Rush worked out for the Cowboys on Tuesday; the team contacted him about a visit on Sunday, just after Hankins suffered a pectoral injury in a 27-23 win over Hosuton.
It’s thought Hankins could return during the postseason; Rush provides important depth in the interim.
Linebacker Malik Jefferson was released to make room on the practice squad for Rush.
Rush will now join a Cowboys defensive tackle group that also includes Quinton Bohanna, Osa Odighizuwa, and Neville Gallimore.
