The Boston Celtics narrowly defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 122-118 in overtime Tuesday night after nearly choking away a third straight loss. Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics, ending the night with 44 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, serving as the engine behind an emphatic comeback.
Boston surrendered what was once a big first-half lead, going ice cold and allowing the Lakers to find a groove down the stretch. From there, the two longtime rivals traded blows, with the visiting team ultimately grabbing the win in an extra period. The Celtics narrowly outscored the Lakers 12-8 in overtime.
Boston finally heads home after a difficult six-game road trip. The Celtics went 4-2 in that stretch, a pretty strong result given how disappointing some of the losses were. Now the Celtics head home for the longest home stand of the year.
