‘I think we need more balance,’ says Boston’s Malcolm Brogdon of Celtics’ 3-point heavy offense

On nights the team doesn’t have it from deep, the results will look as they did vs. the Bulls on Monday otherwise.

When asked why the Chicago Bulls beat Boston, 121-107, on Monday night, Boston Celtics reserve guard Malcolm Brogdon had a simple answer.

“They came out; they were ready to play,” he said via CLNS Media.

The quiet part to that answer was the Celtics were not ready to play against a hungry Bulls squad.

“They’re going through some things over there, so I think they are trying to get more locked in,” Brogdon said. “They’re trying to win some games. I feel like they think that their backs against the wall, so they played with urgency tonight, and I don’t think we played with that urgency.”

Boston also leaned heavily on its 3-point shooting on a night the team did not have it going from beyond the arc.

“I think we’re such a high-level shooting team from the arc; we rely on that,” Brogdon noted.

“I think we need more balance, especially if those 3s aren’t falling. We’re not making shots out there — we’ve got to be able to play inside the arc and still defend,” he suggested.

“That’s one thing that can’t slip regardless of how we’re shooting the ball on the offensive end.”
