Sometimes wrestling fans spend to much energy on what’s next, they don’t take time to appreciate what’s now. That seems to be the mind set of Roman Reigns as he ponders his time as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and unquestioned top dog in the company.
Reigns has held the Universal Championship for more than two years, and added the WWE Championship at WrestleMania earlier this year. With no title defenses currently scheduled, there’s every chance he rolls into 2023 in possession of both belts.
Of course, all good things eventually come to an end, and even though Reigns has the Bloodline backing him in addition to a lengthy run without being pinned in a WWE ring, that’s led many to ponder both who and when he might be toppled.
But as Reigns recently told The Ringer (h/t Fightful), he’s not nearing the end of his time atop the business at all, but rather right in the heart of it.
“I’m right in the middle of it,” Reigns said. “People want these interviews, they want to do these documentaries. But this is the bottom of the third inning to me. We’re in the second quarter of the Super Bowl right now. Just wait, man. We’ve done this in turbulent times, through a pandemic, through the biggest change of all time in this business. And we’ve done it seamlessly. We’ve done it without falter.
“Down the road, 20 years from now when we start giving out all these crazy details of the inside, inside, there’s just going to be even deeper respect for the performances that we’ve been putting on. Man, it’s been a hell of a journey. But it’s only begun. It’s going to get bigger.”

One thing we know for sure is that Reigns isn’t going to lose his titles at the next WWE premium live event, though he will be a big part of it. The Bloodline will face a team consisting of the Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens in a WarGames match this Saturday in Boston at Survivor Series.
